California BA Acting programs

How about some discussion about BA-Acting programs in California other than the ones we all know the best--UCLA and USC. Do any of you following this site have first-hand knowledge of Pomona, University of San Diego, UCSD, University of the Pacific, San Francisco State? Which of these (or other) California schools would be regarded as the Muhlenberg or Drew or Hartt of the west coast? Thanks.

UC Irvine has an excellent BA drama program and is the only UC to offer a BFA MT. The graduate drama program is very highly regarded on a national scale. No audition but a high GPA is required for admittance. My daughter has friends who are very happy in the drama program at UC Santa Cruz. She was accepted with good money at UOP but had no real interest in attending so I can’t say much of anything about the program. There’s Cal Arts, and it’s excellent but more edgy and often compared to Julliard. And very expensive. We also know someone happy at Whittier. You may want to look at Loyola Marymount and Chapman. Both are in the LA area.

I’m applying to Loyola Marymount and their acting program looks great! It’s a BA with the option of Acting emphasis. Looking at their course descriptions, they seem to have all the movement/voice classes as well as the acting sequences. They also have courses in playwriting, production and directing. They have some really good alumni and apparently good connections to the business. They also have the option of a year abroad like most schools.
