California business schools...(confused)

I'm planning on majoring in business (with administration or management emphasis) in undergrad, get my paramedic license afterwards, and perhaps go after a MHA.

My stats from freshman-junior year, about 4.05W, 3.85UW. SAT between 2000-2200, ACT between 31-34. Will have 8 APs, few college classes (bio, chem, multivariable calc, linear algebra). Good ECs including sports, volunteering, clubs, etc. My best achievement probably is qualifying for AIME sophomore year.

Right now on my list I have

USC
UC Berkeley (dunno if I'd go if I get in, since I probably won't get into Haas)
UC Irvine
UC Riverside
Cal Poly SLO
SFSU
SJSU
SDSU

Is this is a good list for schools in CA? Should I consider any other schools/majors? I won't qualify for financial aid (little if any) but I don't want my parents to have to pay out of their pockets. And I hope to work in the SF Bay Area after college and after getting my medic license as a paramedic, then into management positions after I get burnt out.

Might want to look at USD or Chapman. I think you have a pretty strong list already, though.

Op, you should definitely go for Haas if you get into Cal. Haas is in a league above USC’s.

I don’t think USD and Chapman has that many scholarships?

What if I don’t get accepted into Haas though?

Then Econ at Cal wouldn’t be a bad alternative. Cal Econ is well respected.

But I wonder if a major in econ would be useful if I plan to go into management after I get burnt out on the streets.

why not? econ is a broad program. it also deals with management such as management of resources, where an enterprise is an integral part of. econ majors also study finance, accountancy, statistics and management. you can also take more management subjects as electives. If you think econ is still not enough, you can pursue grad studies in management or MBA or MS in Entrepreneurship.

How hard is Haas to get into at Cal?

Thanks RML, I’ll consider majoring in Econ…but we’ll see if I get into Berkeley first!

I think only about 25% of people in Berkeley who apply for Haas gets in.
