california colleges

i have a question for people in california....or if you know a lot about colleges in california. im from Georgia thinking of applying to some colleges in california.
what are good colleges other than the UCs. Is San Jose State Univ. pretty good? what are some good state univ.?

Cal Poly SLO

you have to tell us your intended major

intented major is most likely mechanical engineering

hopefully someone can help you with that. Besides the polytechnics, i have no clue since i intend to do accounting. San jose i would say yes due to the area, but otherwise i dont know. Fullerton has some exotic combinations with eng, physics and biz degrees. otherwise, good luck

san jose state is okay. but, san diego state is better and has more of the california lifestyle you may want (very close access to beaches and great, mild weather). sdsu also has a mechanical engineering program - http://mechanical.sdsu.edu/undergrad/index.htm

USC and Harvey Mudd are two good private ones.

Stanford and Caltech are fairly decent.

He asked for good STATE schools...

thanks for the infos.
i was thinking of san diego state univ cuz i heard san diego was a great city, but someone livin in san diego told me that the college itself isn't really so good....well its in a nice location so i guess il apply to it anyways

Agree about the weather, but you really need a car to get to the beach from SDSU. To get to the beach on foot from campus you'd have go west --> walking about 15 miles, including going around hills and canyons and crossing over or under four different freeways (I-15, I-805, 163, and I-5).

UC San Diego is in a beautiful location. San Diego State is in an average location, not very close to the beaches. San Jose State is ugly (in my opinion) and in a dangerous neighborhood.

The neighborhood around SJSU is not dangerous......

Does San Jose have a lot of Japanese people?

"The neighborhood around SJSU is not dangerous......"

Really, because last time i was there a couple of years ago it wasnt exactly the safest location in the world.
