California Community College Question!

On assist.org it says Breadth classes need to be 3 semesters long. All of the classes at my community college, as I unerstand are Semester courses...so, how would I complete the breadth requirments?

For example it says on assist.org you must take 2 courses from arts and humanities....but since they are semester courses do I have to take 6 different ones to fullfill the 3 semester requirment?

My councelor doesn't know jack, so could you guys shed some light on this.

Thank you very much.

Also, 2 requirments are Calc and Statistics, my councelor advised me to take Calculus first, then statistics...I thought statistics was easier than calc? What order would you do them in?

Which patterns are you following? I followed the IGETC, and without any help from the counselor, I knew what classes I need to take. I think your counselor is supposed to know these things. If he/she doesn't, fire him/her.

Introduction to Stat at CC is way easier than Calculus 1. You must meet the prerequisite for Calculus 1, which is a "C" or better in Pre-calculus. If you took precal in high school and got a C or better, then you can take Calculus 1 now.
What's your major? If you're a science/engineering major, I would recommend you to take Cal 1 because you're gonna need it later. For social science major such as: humanities, art, english... you can take Statistics if you feel you ain't good at math. The pre-req for Intro. Stats is intermediate algebra.

I am aiming for Berkeley Haas for business, and Haas doesn't follow the IGETC.

I took Algebera 3/4 in High school, and Haas requires Statistics and Calculus, so thanks for your answer....I'll take statistics first.

statistics before calculus, and precalculus soon as possible.

breadth classes dont need to be three semesters long. what you need to do is take a course in every area of the breadth. for example, for the international studies requirement, you have to take a single course, etc, etc.

this should help.
