Some background: I have been a Community College student since 2010. I dealt with the typical “what the heck do I want to do with my life?” crisis of your early-to-mid twenties.
Fast forward 8 years, and I figured it out after working an array of jobs. I want to get a B.S. in Business Administration, with a concentration in Information Systems, so that I can be an accounting consultant (I eventually plan to get my CPA and MBA).
I have quite a few W’s due to aforementioned crisis (7 to be exact) and my current cumulative GPA is 3.34, current transfer GPA is 3.5.
I plan to apply to both Cal State Long Beach and San Jose State for their Spring admission.
I will be done with my transfer-specific pre-requisites by this summer of 2018, and will just have two more classes to satisfy the IGETC requirements completed by this fall of 2018.
I also have an internship lined up this summer for an engineering firm that I previously worked for.
With all that being said - what are my chances? Will I likely get accepted into either of those programs, or is it better to wait one more year to apply? Ideally I want to attempt to transfer ASAP as I am fast approaching the 10-year mark at Community College.
Thank you for your time!
sounds like a good plan. My guess is that SJSU will accept you and that Long Beach will torment you with a waiting list for longer than you can stand… Since you have now decided to move with some urgency, I’d add a couple more CSUs to your ap list. Perhaps Sac, SF and Chico all have very strong programs in this area. It is better to have several options come spring.
good luck.
Thanks for your feedback! Yeah I will definitely research some more colleges to see what their programs are like, SJSU and CSULB were my top choices, but it’s good to have more options.
