California "Dream Act" approved for illegal immigrants

@ Indie

You would be the last one to care whether the state is broke or not because of them. Obviously the state’s budget is the last thing you have in mind.

http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/immigrationnaturalizatio/a/caillegals.htm</a></p>

I agree SMCGuy. You make a good point. There definitely should be no extremes to either one side. Oh and Seriously Ryan? An “about” article? I bet this was the first time you googled the role illegal immigration plays in the budget crisis. Also, don’t make rash generalizations and assumptions about my personal character on an online and impersonal forum. What is leading you to believe I “obviously” don’t care about the budget crisis? Uh, hello. I want to be a high school English teacher when I graduate from UCLA. I’m also a tax payer. Why the hell would I not care? How about you just drop out of school, make yourself more useful, and become part of the state’s “cheap labor”?

Wow, some of the previous posters have no clue as to what the bill that was passed said. It is no money-drain, for it is for private loans and what have not.
If you’re going to go bashing on us undocumented aliens, for that is what I am, than why don’t you ask yourselves who put the country into the crisis that it is in today? Certainly not a few million modest people, but rather, greedy upper class rich people.
I had no say when I was brought over to the U.S. from Mexico, so do you think it is fair that I have to go looking everywhere for some finaid when I am more qualified than a majority of the people in my state? People take for granted what is freely offered to them, while those of us who know how hard it is to get access to even some money are seen as monetary black holes.

A main reason why California is broke IS from illegals you need to wake up!

It’s offensive enough that undocumented people are referred to as illegals. I agree wholeheartedly with Indie and SMC Guy.
Undocumented workers are used as scapegoats.

I think a better term for the eight to eleven million persons illegally in the U.S. is “illegal aliens” or maybe “illegal migrants.” They are not “undocumented” nor are they really “immigrants.” Even know the term “illegal immigrant” is, by definition, incorrect for its usage, but at least “illegal” imparts the law-breaking aspect.

The dictionary definition of the word “immigrant” is “a person who comes to a country to take up permanent residence.” This meaning the term “immigrant” does not always apply to transient illegal aliens who frequently cross the porous U.S. border. Even though common usage of “immigrant” has been broadly applied to those illegally in the U.S., such usage in my opinion is inaccurate.

However, the term “undocumented” is also a very inaccurate term only used by the liberals and mass media to sway the public in favor of special interest groups. There not “undocumented” in the first or last place, because they never were. Many never even had a document to lose. Many just over-stayed their visa. When speaking of legal terminology, it has always used the words “aliens” and “foreign nationals.” President Bush and House Minority Leader Richard Gephardt pander to the extent they call illegal aliens “citizens.” If you think about it, the use of euphemistic terms other than “illegal aliens” only clouds the reality of the situation.

Go ahead and vote for OBAMA again. He will continue to his social agenda. In 4 years, strapped with debt, you can be unemployed with no job. But hey, Your parents educated many criminals that will get your job. Not to worry, You will have the next 60 years to pay for Obama’s “social change” Life is about choices, enjoy! You will feel the pain when it’s your money and not daddy’s

My spidey plagiarism sense is tingling…

[“Illegal Migrants” not “Undoucumented Aliens” - Stormfront](<a href=“http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:QA9aZEV96vkJ:www.stormfront.org/forum/t112375/+“I+think+a+better+term+for+the+eight+to+eleven+million+persons+illegally+in+the+U.S.+”&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=safari&source=www.google.com]"Illegal”>http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:QA9aZEV96vkJ:www.stormfront.org/forum/t112375/+“I+think+a+better+term+for+the+eight+to+eleven+million+persons+illegally+in+the+U.S.+”&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=safari&source=www.google.com)

Now instead of linking to an about.com article in lieu of an argument, you copy and paste a rant from a white supremacist forum and attempt to pass it off as your own. Didn’t your teachers ever tell you to cite your sources? You’re a real winner, kid.

cool i guess.

Being called an illegal is offensive…Get out of here with that BS.

and labeling a rapist a rapist is offensive. criminals don’t deserve “friendlier” labels.

I am more concerned with the lack of professors who speak English in the Science departments. I mean really? Is it that hard to hire someone who speaks the language?

I could care less if a person sitting in class with me was legally here or not… just give me profs who can speak English.

@MitchAPalooza: I took that exam; it feels like I took it yesterday, Amazingly the immigration officer was nice to me. Any who, I am amazed how many of these American students couldn’t pass this.

I can not believe that this amount of CCers are so biased, when we, as some of the most intelligent people, should see things more openly and in an unbiased manner. Do you often check statistics or the news even? Most crimes are commuted by whites, but a majority of people convicted are minorities because white people tend to get off more easily.
Anyway, you can hardly put the blame on us foreign nationals, as I shall refer to my kin from now on, but rather on the people you vote for. Did I spend a couple of TRILLION on unfunded wars? Did I give money to corporations? Did I bail failed corps? Exactly, no. So why am I to blame? Surely a $100,000 grant is not more than, say, $1,000,000,000,000?

Nice work poserbruin. He got you Ryan, you’ve lost all credibility.

Illegals have broken the law. I don’t care if they were brought here when they were a child; under the law entering America without proper documentation is a crime no matter how old or young you are.

@CaliMade Should we send them to a country where they wouldn’t know anyone and be completely lost? Imagine if you got a call today and found out you were undocumented. It turned out you were born in China and brought here illegally at the age of two by your parents. Tomorrow you are being shipped back to China despite not knowing anyone there, no close relatives, no friends… You went to Elementary school, junior high, and high school in the US, but sorry you’re undocumented thanks to your parents. You can not attend college in the US. Good luck with your life in China!

How would you feel?

@SMCguy
No, we should send them from the country that they fled from illegally. I wouldn’t get that call because my ancestors where brought here on slave ships. Any other questions?

@IndieRockNRoll
No, you are wrong not everyone has ancestors who fled here. Some of us were brought here on slave ships and sold as property. Coming here illegally from China is a lot harder and unlikely then someone coming from Mexico, you and I both know that, so you can toss that hypothetical away. People break the law and feel as if they are entitled to the benefits and perks of American citizens is not fair.

Just because an act is criminalized (by politicians) and labels a person “criminal” doesn’t mean that person is an evil person or a threat to society who should be locked up. Think outside the box the government has drawn for you. Lawmakers can criminalize anything. Calling an undocumented person who’s only “crime” was to want a better life (or to be the child of one of those people) is a real stretch to anyone with common sense and a mind of their own.
