Does anyone agree that CA kids ruin some of the top schools in the northeast? I'm going to Penn(Wharton) next year and live in Jersey, so I visited a friend at Penn last weekend to let loose a little bit.

The CA kids were all giggling about how cold it was and how they'd never worn so much clothing before. It wasn't even THAT cold and they were all overdressed anyway. One of them was wearing a giant goose down coat along with flip flops(?!?!). Some Asian dude from the Bay area even shouted that he was "so Ivy League!" while playing pong.

When my dad went to Penn, it was a classy place full of well rounded students. These days, academic grinds from the west coast lower the level of class dramatically.

tl,dr; the UCs are great schools. go to those instead.

I don’t really care how much money the west coast kids have or when their families earned it(because it’s not fair to judge people on things like that), but you can’t shout “I’m so Ivy League right now!” and expect to be taken seriously.

LOL wow, sorry, but you can’t judge a whole group of people based off of where they live. Put yourself in our shoes… I fcking hate California and haven’t seen snow since I was 5 years old. New experiences etc. are great… too be honest most CA kids don’t even want to leave California. I agree that the Asian dude was being a ******, and not gonna lie, a lot of Asian kids’ life missions are to go to an Ivy League, but as I said before, don’t blanket people.

oh wow. you are such a stereotypical east coaster looking down upon west coast.

You know california has the BEST math and science students in the United States?
and bay area has some of the HARDEST high schools in the entire country?

I’m from socal and in my opinion…the east coast is cold as fuuuuk. I remember my first winter at Penn when I basically lived off campusfood.com for 2 months. Think of what you usually wear in mid october, and that is what we wear on the coldest day of winter…

you can’t make your name CHOKLITRAIN and expect to be taken seriously.

I am from california and yes I do get cold when it is below 60 no maybe even 70 degrees but you would too if you didn’t have the benefit (or curse) of growing up somewhere cold so your body is acclimated to cold weather.

I’m from southern California. We are basically in a desert biome and it’s usually not cold here. We consider 40 degrees to be freezing… it’s just not what we’re used to. I know that it’s going to be hard to adapt to sub-0 temperatures if I leave the state for college, which I probably will.

BTW, the UC schools are horrendously overpopulated and facing huge-ass budget cuts. I don’t blame people for opting to go OOS.

at least we can be in the snow and at the beach in the same day if we choose. Let people have their fun…flip flops are a way of life to some Californians the way ice scrapers are to the east coasters ;)

^lol that’s actually pretty true come to think of it… i’ve worn flipflops to school practically everyday since HS started… you can imagine how bad my flipflop tan is >.<
