California Private - Stanford, Cal Tech, USC

hey everyone
i recently made a thread for my UC chances
but now i would actually like to see my chances for some of the California Independent Private Colleges

so if you could give me a little bit of time to chance me for:

that'd be great! thanks

Thanks so much for your time
if there's anything else i need to post let me know

again this is a chance for:

Stanford
CalTech (EA)
USC

THANKS!! =]

In at Caltech (they are really, really, really big on people with 790s and 800s in math and the sciences), in at USC (mom’s legacy definitely helps there)

Stanford is always a ?

I’d say that you need to retake and move up the 630 SAT. If you can get this up to about a 680, then you’ll probably get in. Otherwise, I’d say you probably won’t.

Good luck.

P.S. Being Indian won’t matter one way or the other at Caltech or USC–but Stanford will try to “balance” their class–and they get thousands upon thousands of Indian applicants, so I’d downplay your ethnicity for them.

ya im definitely retaking the SAT particularly to get my CR to 770ish if i can
i’ve been doing practice and learning plenty of words and it’s been helping
(740 on the last practice test)

thanks calcruzer!!!

I think you will get into to CalTech and USC (probably with a presidential scholarship too!) As for Stanford, a bit of a reach…but with a strong essay…you could be in!
Good luck!

Cal Tech - high match
USC - low match
Stanford - crapshoot

:)

anyone else??

CalTech - high match/low reach. I wanna say match, but that 630 on the Reading SAT is still a little bogdown. If you get that 2350…definitely in.
USC - Safety/low match. Pretty much in.
Stanford - Match. That Reading SAT again…but otherwise, you’re solid.

Have you tried taking the ACT? You might do better on the reading part.

Anyway, I think you’ll be ok at CalTech and USC. You can probably get some decent money for USC.

Stanford, well that’s generally a crapshoot but I don’t see why you wouldn’t get in.

Good luck :).

CalTech - in.
USC - in probably with a great merit aid package
Stanford - you have as great of a shot as anyone.

Good luck!

bumpness
please?

CalTech (EA)-IN
Stanford-Who Knows
USC-IN

thanks for the chance!

oh and also i’m going to be trying for the CalTech-UC San Diego Med Scholars Program so could you guys maybe chance me for that also??

CalTech: low reach
USC: match
Stanford: reach

thanks for chancing me!

LOW SATs. Good class rank.

Rejected from Stanford and CalTech. In at USC.

Hi stueydue!

Thanks for chancing me! Now I’ll chance the rest of your schools, but my eval remains the same.

Chances:
USC: Match
Caltech: Reach (The applicant pool is very self-selective … meaning everyone will have very good test scores … not sure about the people who have rated you a MATCH or an IN
Stanford: Reach … it’s a reach for anyone

Good luck!

i hate how people on this site are certain that there going to get these miraculous SAT scores. 2140 to a 2350…ya you wish kid

yaya34 i bet you 50 bucks

don’t listen to the people telling you to expect a merit scholarship from USC! People with 4.0/2400s have been known not to get any scholarships while students more around the average acceptee (3.8/2200) get a full ride. It’s very weird.

^ that is really weird. what factors come into play when determining merit scholarship??
