California Private - Stanford, Cal Tech, USC

For scholarships, USC looks at your stats, but also at your essays and recs, and scholarship finalists are required to interview with a committee. It’s the same thing as applying to any highly selective school- great stats will help you, but they can’t guarantee anything. Just as an example, my friend and I had almost identical stats and both applied to the scholarship deadline- I got the Presidential, she got nothing (not even Dean’s).

Your SAT score, as it stands now, is right around the average of USC’s accepted students this year, so a scholarship is by no means a sure thing. If you DO bring it up to a 2350 you’ll certainly be a competitive applicant, but again, there are no guarantees.

ps- I hope this doesn’t sound discouraging. Personally, I think you’ve got a very good shot, especially if you write good essays, but as srabiee said, don’t expect it.

^ ya i totally understand what you and srabiee are saying VF08
i actually never thought about scholarships until people on this thread mentioned it
thanks for the input

thanks for the chances everyone!
if anyone else has anything thatd be great!

You mentioned the Cal Tech/UC San Diego Med Scholars program - USC also has a combined Baccalaureate/M.D. you could look into: [USC Undergraduate Admission: Admission: Additional Requirements for Selected Majors: USC College](http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/admission/selected_majors/college/)
Good luck!

And about the USC scholarships: USC seems to select a pool of the very qualified candidates in terms of “stats” to consider for scholarships. But once they are looking at that very qualified pool, the “stats” no longer count as much. Essays and the quality of what you have done with your time really come into play. As srabiee90 says, there were some very disappointed 4.0/2400s complaining bitterly on the discussion boards this year.

Be sure to apply by the December 1st scholarship deadline to be considered.

thanks so much for all the info tocollege!!
this really helps so much!

anyone else got a chance in em?

USC - High Safety/Low Match (i wouldn’t be suprised if you got a little scholarship)
