I got a 220... Is the curve really 219? Officially?

I believe you mean the cutoff for national merit? The cutoff won’t be known until later this year. Use last year’s number as a rough guide.

haha i’m in california and also got a 220
really hope the cutoff doesn’t increase too much!

^
Has it ever jumped more than one?

^
Not sure. I don’t have to worry since I got a 240

The previous cutoffs in CA were: 217, 217, 218 and 219 (2007-2010) It’s not unusual for the cutoff to change by 1 or 2 points in a year (very rarely by 3 points) It looks like the CA cutoff should stay below 220 based on recent history. Good luck. You will find out in late August or early September.

I got a 220 too. My theory is that the biggest states cant have a drastic change in cutoff or the amount of winners would be screwd up…and we all know cali hasnt gotten smarter as a whole.

I got a 220 too o.o

Ha, very comforting to know that there’s three other people in the same boat as me…

i feel inferior with my 219 lol

^
Dang, that’s an even worse position to be in…

I have a feeling the curve will drop to 218 or at the very least hold at 219. It can’t possibly rise another year in a row.

oh, i live in new york, so hopefully i will make it (last year was 218 for new york) to semi-finalist

guys, it sucks that the california curve increased to 221 :((

I feel terrible for those who got 219 or 220. Tough luck…
