California public schools?

Hello guys! I'm a Connecticut caucasian male, and I am interested in UC schools- particularly UC Berkeley and UCLA. I was wondering how being an OOS applicant plays a role-- does it increase/decrease/not affect my chances? I recognize that I must be an impressive applicant regardless, as the schools themselves are very selective, but any help is appreciated :).

Also, I'd love to be chanced for UCB and UCLA...even though this isnt a "What are my chances thread" haha...

In case anyone is interested, my stats are here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1172816-chances-rising-junior.html. It's on the thread, but I may as well mention that I do not need financial aid. Thanks!

If you didn’t already know, UC schools this year accepted a lot of out of state students due to the recent budgets cuts. They want more out of state students because OOS students pay way more than one who lives in California. I believe I heard from some news post that the accepted out of state freshmans accepted to Berkeley this year was about 30% of the incoming Berkeley freshman class. And with UC being hit with more budgets cuts, I think OOS student have quite a boost considering that your within the range of GPA, SAT, etc of the schools you are applying to.

SOOO glad we didn’t pursue Calif schools as out of state applicant last year. Just not what they used to be. Its a shame to watch the jewel tarnish and crack due to budget cuts.
