any other safety school i should look into?

business major
okay ec's - lots of sports, clubs

San Diego State is probably the nicest campus and location. However, after Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, it is also the hardest cal state to get into. I would not consider it a safety for you. Long Beach is also very competitive so I wouldn't consider it a safety. I think you should treat both as reach schools, especially if you are considering applying for certain majors like business.

I'd say San Jose State and SF State are matches for you, not safeties.

Assuming you want to just apply to Cal States, some possible safeties for you would include Monterey Bay, Channel Islands, San Marcos, Bakersfield. But, with 23 schools in the cal state system, there are many others to choose from. I'd suggest you go to csumentor.com and look at the admissions information for all of the schools that is listed there. They have lots of details about average GPAs, test scores, and the cal state indexes - that should help you sort things out. While you're there, be sure to read how the cal states will compute your GPA. They now use the same system as the UC's, only grades from A-G UC approved classes taken in 10th and 11th grade so be sure to compute yours and follow the instructions for computing the cal state admissions index to get an accurate picture of where your chances stand.
