California schools for Sociology?

What are some good schools in California with strong sociology departments? My preference is specifically for a California State University but I wouldn't mind advice on UC sociology programs.

Go to the web site of some colleges to count the sociology dept. faculty members and the number of courses in the course catalog. This will give some ideas.

For liberal-arts majors my preference would be schools with smaller classes so that you get some individual attention instead of lectures with hundreds of students lower-division and 50-100 upper-division. But this is a personal decision. If you attend a UC or CSU school and are a self-motivated person, if you’re willing to make the effort to attend office hours, join club(s) related to your interests, look for internships, etc. then you can have a good experience.

UC Berkeley has the #1 rated Soc graduate program in the country per US News. It is also one of UCB’s largest undergrad majors. Great offerings.

thanks all, does anyone else have any insight on this? please do share.
