California State Universities

Hi Im thinking about applying to some CSU's since I don't qualify for UC's.
What are some really good campuses that I should check out/ apply to?
Im interested in architecture, business, and anything environmental. But I heard I shouldn't factor in my interests when I choose a college but rather how I like the place, like enviroment etc...?

I'm thinking about applying to Humboldt because its cold haha, Chico cause they are very eco friendly and rural apprently, San diego becuase I've always just wanted to go there, San luis Opisbo not sure why but just wanna go there, and Cal poly(s).

So yea... are there some other campus thats really good that I should consider and why? Also if there are any privates that you think might be great, feel free to post em and why.
I have a weighted 2.53 and a 1750 Sat superscored, if this info. helps.

Thanks in advance!

You need your CSU/UC GPA as calculated here:

[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - GPA Calculator](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)

And your SAT CR and M score (best single sitting).

These are used to determine eligibility for CSU:

[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - Eligibility Index - California Residents](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>GPA Calculator | CSU)
[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - Eligibility Index - Nonresidents Residents](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)

If you are CSU eligible as described above, you will be admitted to a non-impacted CSU campus and major. If the campus or major is impacted:

[Impaction | Student Academic Support | CSU](http://www.calstate.edu/sas/impactioninfo.shtml)
[CSU Campus Impaction Information | Student Academic Support | CSU](http://www.calstate.edu/sas/impaction-campus-info.shtml)

then higher standards, usually based on your eligibility index:

[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - Calculate Your Eligibility Index](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)

will be used to select applicants. Most CSUs do have a preference for local applicants as described here:

http://www.calstate.edu/sas/publications/documents/CSULocalAdmission-ServiceAreas.pdf</a></p>

so you may still be able to get into a local CSU that is impacted.

You should definitely consider your academic interests when choosing a college or university, since the whole purpose of attending is to learn something of interest to you.

Be sure to put “net price calculator” and/or “financial aid estimator” in each school’s web site to check to see if it is affordable to you.

I can’t imagine why someone would tell you that. Sure your opinion of the school location, type of students it attracts, etc. is all important and you should not go to a college you know is a poor fit. But how could your interests not come first? If you want to be an architect (for example) and go to a school without such a program, you won’t be an architect. How could that possibly be the right choice even if you love the school itself?

I graduated from SF State. From what I remember there Business program is really good. No idea about their architecture program. I got a BS in Int’l Business from there. The program was alright, but SFSU is a commuter campus, so you’re forwarned.

I would naturally assume the Cal Polys would be good for architecture, but I could be wrong. From my understanding those are a bit more selective.

My sat score is 1190 and act 26.

Yeah I heard about the regional acceptance thing but I live in San Francisco so I don’t want to live at home plus SF State is the most impacted csu I heard.

So are there any other CSU’s I should consider? And if u can tell me of I have a chance to get in, that’d be great.
