California State University SAT

I live in Kentucky, and the schools I'm applying to in-state require either ACT -OR- SAT. And most people here don't take the SAT if they know they aren't going out-of-state for college, because the ACT is mandatory in high schools in Kentucky. I was wondering if California State University (I would be applying to the LA campus) required the SAT. And what are the required scores (ACT and SAT if needed) to get accepted? Thank you so much!!!

The SAT is much more common here in California.

As far as the SAT scores, it really depends on the CSU. Some are much more selective, others less so.

If you have a specific geographic area in mind, it is best to visit the website for each of the schools to get a feel for their requirements.

Okay. Thank you so much!

Ya I hear the west coast takes the SAT,east coast takes ACT and mid west takes both…but id say do whichever one you’d do the best in…I’m not sure how it is for out of state schools but to go to a state university if you’re a in state resident you can go with a 3.00 gpa and not take the SAT or have at least a 2.00 gpa and depending on the school the SAT scores vary.

Californiacolleges.edu or csumentor.com should help Good Luck

[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - Eligibility Index - Nonresidents Residents](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU) lists minimum non-resident eligibility thresholds for GPA and either SAT or ACT (or GPA alone if greater than 3.6). However, many CSU campuses and majors have higher thresholds due to impaction.

GPA is calculated as described here: [CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - GPA Calculator](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)
