Hey guys! So I'm thinking of visiting ole miss soon and I'm nervous right now! I'm from California and I'm a non-white! I'm afraid that I won't be able to fit in with all the ole miss kids because of their attitudes towards non-whites! I've heard that they are rude and racist towards non-whites like myself! I've heard alot of stereotypes in the past about ole miss from other people! Is this true? Also, will I be able to fit in and make friends without being judged by anyone?

Someone please help!

Well, it IS Mississippi. I hear that SOMETIMES people in the south can be a little bit racist, but that’s just rumors. I can assure you there are people of different races other than white.

Ole Miss undergraduates are 77% NH white and 16% NH black (NH = non-Hispanic). That leaves about 7% all others, including Asian, Latino, Native American, more than one race, international. Whether you consider that to be good, bad, or neutral, it may be very different from your California high school, or many universities in California.
