California University...of Pennsylvania

I came across this college months ago, and I'm bored now so I am inclined to share

Cal U: Welcome to California University of Pennsylvania's Web Site

California, PA.

Maybe it's like Paris, TX?

There's also an Indiana University of Pennsylvania

...and note the california university of pennsylvania appears to be the countrys oldest college with 'california' in its name.

Oh man, I so wanna go here now! ;)

LOL

That's hilarious.

haha. why they got that name?

i got in that school two days ago :p

It's considered by locals to be the 13th grade as well, I believe.

There's also the University of Miami in Oxford, Ohio.

Indiana, Pennsylvania, the hometown of Jimmy Stewart, birthplace of opera singer Renee Fleming and the home to an innovative honors college at I.U.P. Robert E Cook Honors College at Indiana University of Pennsylvania

No, I believe that's Miami University (which happens to be in Oxford, OH). Now the Red Hawks in lieu of the unPC Redskins, referring to the native Americanos who once lived in the Miami Valley. U. of Miami is in FL.

Cal St ... a great place if one is interested in womens hoops, being a tech ed (shop) teacher, and has one of 2 (Penn St is t'other) PA certified programs in wildlife biology. I believe they study the coeds as their primary primate subjects. California PA ... on the Monongahela River, 50 miles south of Pgh, and a top candidate for the entry point for the globe's enema. A dead dead industrial and mining town, if ever there was one. 'Tain't purrdy. Oh, and the faculty hate the president's guts ... and the Board keeps giving him raises.

That said, I'm confident there are a number of fine folks and decent students studying there. Cal U of PA is one of 14 state owned and governed institutions, all of which were begun as state normal then teachers colleges. In legality, it is like SUNY system ... it is the Cal branch of the the PA state system. They are not free-standing entities, altho they like to portray themselves as such.

btw, and I'm confident this will offend some, the IUP Cook Honors College is, well how should one say it, ho hum? Some good, talented students that are not heavily challenged according to reports.

Boy Howdy! I don't know why they gon' got that name there.

Our school sends several kids each year to Cal U, Indiana of PA, Slippery Rock, Penn State Beaver, etc. All local state schools that the majority of our kids attend. Some go a step up to Washington and Jefferson, Pitt, or Duquesne. I think one a few years ago went to CMU but that's a major stretch.

Here in the Eastern part of the state we send some kids there as well.
I have heard the dorms are pretty new and really nice.
I think it is only one of two PA state U's with a major in Technology Education and a good program as well.
There is a real shortage of Tech ed teachers if anyone is interested.....
