Did anyone else's school get a call from Notre Dame saying that you would get a letter by late next week?

The other counselor at my school did not, but mine did, so I was wondering if this was common...or if it is a good sign.

I really hope so! Notre Dame is officially no. 1 for me now.

Thanks for any input!

hmm...never heard anyone up here mention this happening...

sorry, my counselor misled me, trying to hide the fact he (no. 1 lost my first application and made me do another TWO days before the deadline...on christmas break) did not know he was suppose to send the mid-year report. he found the form and called to make sure he had sent one. idiot! anyway, he actually told me notre dame called so that it wouldn't seem like he didn't know he was suppose to send the mid-year report.

It turns out he sent in two applications.

And you know what? he hasn't apologized, and Notre Dame means a lot to me. I cried when he said he "didn't have it". I put so much effort to make sure he didn't lose my application!! I put it in this bright orange folder with post-its all over it, but he only had the folder and counselor sheet. he called during break because he couldn't find the check for notre dame. (It was stapled in the first few pages of the app...that is how we discovered he was lying about never getting it!!)

Sorry, just venting.

This made my christmas break very difficult!!

Also, sorry about this post about the non-existent phone call. I was told they called, but aparently that was not true.

What a lame counselor! You should probably report him/her, that behavior is inexcusable.

Out of curiousity, why didn't you just send in the application and payment yourself? My counselor sent out grade reports and recommendations but I sent out my own applications. I know some schools insist on receiving everything at once but Notre Dame is not one of them.

don't know for sure but it's possible that genevieveCour's counselor is similiar to mine.

Not that mine lost my application, thankfully that never happened. However it was policy at my school that NO applications could be sent in independent of the school's portion. They required that you turn in your poriton to the counselor and then the school would send your portion in along with the required documents from the school. If you didn't want to do this, too bad, the school wouldn't send a transcript or whatnot to a college independent of an application they mailed.

They can refuse to send the transcripts??? That's awful. Ours just warned us to get our applications in before the transcript requests so the colleges would have files set up before the transcripts arrived.

Anyway, best of luck to you GenevieveCour! I hope things work out in spite of your counselor.
