I was asleep this morning and on my machine there was a message from John Maeda saying the admission officers compiled a list of top talent and I was on it. He told me to visit our.risd.edu and more adcom officers would call me later.

What does this mean? Is it just marketing or am I actually special? I was thinking about applying to RISD last year, but I thought that my work wasn’t good enough, so I didn’t apply. The deadline is 2/15, so I still have time. I originally wanted to apply b/c of the Brown-RISD program (I have already applied to Brown, but didn’t check the box for I am applying to Brown-RISD…) Plus I haven’t started the 3 required drawings.

I think he said it. At least it didn't sound like my name was inserted into a recording.. My mom said he called before but I was at work so he said he would call back later.

If you can't get it all done on time, call & ask for an extension - then send a fax to Brown admissions & let them know you have sent in an RD application to Brown and wish to apply to the Brown/RISD program now that the RISD president has encouraged you to apply there as well.

I am so excited for you. Brown/RISD is my numero uno choice and now I want Maeda to call me! Tell me about yourself: did you send an art portfolio to Brown when you applied there, and did you go to a portfolio day for RISD? How does RISD know that you are a top talent?

I've never entered any competitions for art. I took my first school art class this year AP 2-D design. I sent my art portfolio to Brown. I'm thinking maybe they share info with each other? a RISD rep visited our school and looked at our pieces, but he was just mildly enthusiastic about mine.

I think I'm going to consult with my art teacher monday and then see if I can apply in time

This day, I ALSO received a voicemail from John Maeda. The phone was ringing but I didn't pick it up coz I thought it was unimportant and I was painting. I'm very happy because he keeps on saying that I was credible to be in RISD. =)

I don't know if he saw my works or an admission counselor refered me to him, but its not the first time I received a message from RISD about my artworks. I was mailed by an admission counselor from RISD that interviewed me last November, responding on my work that impressed him.

BTW I submitted my application before this happened, yes I won art awards but its only Regional Scholastics, but the award was not included on my online application since It was late when I found it out.

Will my chances of getting on RISD become high or generally I was already accepted????

.< I'm worried coz the admission counselors knows me since I always ask question about my application.
