<p>Wow people calm down, i’m not stupid I obviously made a mistake. I started the thread to share my story and see if anyone else had similar stories, not to be critiqued on my actions.</p>

My mother has a PhD, and teaches occasionally. Were some student to call her “Mrs” she would be annoyed, but not angry. Mainly because it shows immaturity on the student addressing her (not because she “cares so much about her title”). And really, professors have to deal with enough nonsense.</p>
<p>FWIW, her suggestion (when I asked her about this years ago) was to ALWAYS call a teacher Professor until you know what they want. If someone has a doctorate (and is uptight about it) and wants to be called Dr, they’ll let you know. If someone does not, they’ll either correct you or let it be - and be flattered that you called them that.</p>

My mother is a single mother. She would not really be insulted in this situation, but I sure would be insulted for her.</p>
