We have gotten our financial package from a few other schools and I called UMCP this morning and I was told that the letters would be going out via email with a target date of March 27th- April 1st....so we don't have too much longer to wait!

Good luck everyone :)

Do you know if we are contacted via mail, emial, or the student portal/UID

D received this email today.

Dear Student,
We have received your General Application for Scholarships and Grants for the 2013-2014 school year. We will begin sending award notifications in April.
Thank You,

Thanks for posting, was that from his personal email or UMCP account?

S got that also and it came via a letter in the mail.

For those of you receiving the letter, did you apply for grants and scholarships? When I called, I was just inquiring about the regular package after submitting the FAFSA in early January. I know all merit offers have already gone out.

I was told that it would be an email directing us to check online, much like the admissions decision did in late January, and that a follow up letter would be mailed home a few days later.

@terpmama The note was sent to D’s personal email. She applied for the grants and scholarships with the due date of 2/15 on the financial aid website.

What happens if you dont complete the General Scholarship Application? I already received some merit aid without it but will I get federal aid without it?

The general scholarship application is separate from the fasfa. It’s for specific grants like if you went to a particular elementary school. It’s unrelated to your financial aid.

So I should only fill out the General Application if any of the conditions on the second page apply to me?

That’s right, Flash. If you can’t say yes to any of the questions you won’t qualify for any of the related scholarships.

can i still submit the general scholarship application at this point? or is it too late to bother?

My D’s financial aid packaged was posted today at [Office of Student Financial Aid](http://www.financialaid.umd.edu/).

Besides lanes123, has anyone else viewed financial aid package either online or via snail mail?
I’m talking need based, not merit.

DS viewed his need based fin aid package online yesterday. We are oos. Don’t expect anything great unless you are below poverty level.

When I tried to access it I was asked for an id. Where do we get the id?

You need your Directory ID log in and password. This is a different log in ID/password than the application log in/password.

How do I get that?

Go to Testudo Generic Log In…Then click below the box where it states “Click here if you do not know your directory id”. Answer the questions and you will recieve your id & password.

Thank you 3boysrus!!
