Well I just got denied from Georgetown and I honestly don't even know what to say. I got to a Jesuit school and seven kids were accepted early action last year. I was the highest score applying and second highest gpa. I had decent EC's etc. I just feel like something went majorly wrong with my essays or something. Do you think it is appropriate to call my admission rep and ask if she saw any major flaws in my application? Even better, do you think it is alright if I email her?

Um no, it’s not. One of my friends was accepted to UPenn after getting deferred ED, a boy from my class was accepted to Columbia that way, and another girl I know was accepted to Yale RD after applying SCEA. And that’s just people I know from my school.

Don’t get discouraged! Write to the GT adcom, but not to ask why you were deferred; express interest in the school. They’ll probably like that a lot.

I don’t want to go to Georgetown now. I would just like to find out if there was anything on my application that had a major impact on my decision.

UVA: sorry you were deferred. I think emotions are high but deferral DOES mean they still want to consider you. I think it’s OK to call and ask about your file. If someone who read your file actually replies, I think you’ll hear encouraging but measured words. Who knows? You might get some constructive points about your application, too.
