So 2007's season of admissions is over and some of us are dying, waiting for 2008 season. Come on in and let everyone know where you are applying to, your reasons for transferring, your dream school, your favorite color, and basically anything you want...well, maybe not favorite color.

anyway, I am in a Pittsburgh Pennsylvania CC and I cannot wait to transfer. my prospective schools are...

Columbia University
Washington University in St. Louis
University of Chicago
Carnegie Mellon University
Swarthmore
Haverford
New York University
Boston University
Reed College
University of Pittsburgh

I never took the opportunity to apply to a variety of schools out of high school because of my poor GPA and my different plans (I intended to go through culinary school and earn an associates in busines through my community college). I've become so excited by the whole process and I can't wait until 2008 application season.

In the end, I'm really looking at Columbia and NYU more than any of the other schools because of New York. There are many other factors that weigh more than location but I absolutly love that city and both of those schools are amazing. Oh, and my major would be Math/Econ and I'm not sure about a minor yet. Wish me luck.

So anyway, lets hear it, it's only a few months away...Ok more than a few but where are you planning on.

current college: Spartanburg methodist college (private 2year)
GPA: 3.5
High school gpa: 2.75'
ACT: 29
ECS to many to name invovled in everything.
Transfer in Fall of 08

Possible schools:
Drexel University
U of Chicago (reach)
Boston University
U of Pitt
Bard
Fordham
Penn State

Current school: 3rd tier public school in NC
cum. GPa: should be around 3.9 by the time I apply
Ec's: President of Pre-law club VP of Business/Law club. Summer internship at Merrill Lynch PWM branch.

Hs gpa: 3.0
Sat: bad, 1100 but I'm going to retake and should be able to get somewhere around a 2200 at least that's what I'm shooting for.
Ec's: nothing special

Where I'm definitely applying:

Cornell AEM- where I really want to go
Georgetown- 2nd choice
UNC- Safety I'm about 99% sure I'll get in, I would still love to go there but I like Cornell much more.

still undecided about:

Duke- probably have no chance but I really love the school and location in NC
Dartmouth- Same as Duke but probably have a slightly better chance of admission (still next to impossible though)

Columbia University
Brown University
Stanford
Tufts
New York University
Penn
Georgetown

Each school offers something unique on the road to where I want to go. That and I never got the chance to apply to these schools coming out of high school. My focus wasn't there but I have a chance at it now hopefully.

It would be a dream come true if I could attend Penn.

UCLA
University of Colorado
USC
University of Florida
University of Texas
Penn State
UMich
Michigan State University (backup)

I was a huge partier in high school and didn't care about high school so my GPA was hurt.
I hope that my upward trend in grades will help me somewhat. I cannot wait to start on my applications, my top choice school is between UCLA and CU-Boulder, although they are both quite different they both have things that really attract me to the university.

**Good Luck to everyone applying for the Fall08 Rotation!!

California CC currently. First year coming up(doing a summer session right now). I hope to transfer to USC (dream school, business) after a year and become a sophomore there. HS GPA: 3.7, SAT: 1970. Chose the cc route because I wasn't accepted into USC, and I felt the other schools I applied to wouldn't make me very happy for 4 years. I should have done more research about colleges besides applying to schools that people around me applied to. Other schools I'm looking into I think are University of Arizona, Boston U, and Boston College. If anyone has other schools I should look into I'd be glad to hear it by the way. Best of luck to all of us with the upcoming school year and application process.

Purdue University as Fall 2007 international applicant.

Hoping for :

Harvard
Yale
MIT
Stanford
Caltech
Northwestern
Duke
Columbia
CMU
Cornell
Penn
Brown
UCLA/UCB

i aim for the stars too ;)

Applying as a transfer for Fall 2008 and probably in 2009 too.

Reason : Screwed-up freshman essays. Didn't apply to many of the above colls as a freshman.

Stats: Good SAT scores/ Excellent HS records/Excellent ECs/ Hopefully will cross 3.5 GPA in Purdue. Appearing for Advanced credit exams in Purdue in August as well.

P.S. any chance ANYWHERE? im an international

But for the many of you with only super reaches on your list, please remember my mantra ;):

If you are happy with your current school as your safety and would be comfortable continuing on where you are, then a list of all reaches is fine.

If not, please refine your list to include safe and match schools. Safe schools should have AT LEAST a 40% transfer acceptance rate and stats profiles which put you solidly in their range.

I currently attend Tulane and I've been accepted to NYU Stern. I still haven't decided for the fall. NYU is a lot closer to home but I have a half scholarship to Tulane. I had a lot of fun my first year but I love the city....

I'm about to go into my first semester as a sophomore at a 3rd tier state public university. My high school GPA was around an 86% and SAT scores are fairly laughable - a 1660 on the new scale.

Right now in college I'm majoring in English. My GPA overall is a 3.67, and it'll probably be bumped up to a 3.7 or a 3.8 by the end of this coming semester. I have a 4.0 in my major but I'm not sure if that really counts for anything.

Sooo, I'm applying to Barnard College (I got rejected this past spring) and Fordham (Lincoln Center campus) for the Fall 2008 semester as Barnard is a reach for me, I think, and I would have a better chance applying for Junior standing, I suppose.

Any thoughts? Would it be pointless for me to retake the SATs or take one or two subject tests if I'm applying for junior year? I heard that your high school record is pretty much disregarded at that point.

Applying to:
McGill University
Howard University (hoping for full scholarship)
Spelman College (already deferred but didn't go because of $$$)
Sarah Lawrence College
Lewis & Clark College
