***Calling all Cornell Tansfers***

i know that i might not get into cornell as a freshman but planning to cornell after my junior year at either penn state, fordham, or howard university.

the question is what else do they look for when transfering to CAS expect grades?

do you have to a perfect A+?

well. first, I know that each college has different standards for transfer–as in some are more selective then others. I don’t know where CAS stands… but I am pretty sure you do not need to have a perfect 4.0… anywhere from a 3.6+ would give you solid standing, granted of course, a solid essay [legit reason to leave. not prestige]. Look up your prospective major’s pre reqs, and focus your curriculum around that.

CAS has very high standards for transfer admission. 3.6 or greater, plus good faculty recs are needed. I think only like 1 in 8 are accepted.

i doubt you can apply after junior year, i think you need to do at least two full years at cornell

You can apply after junior year, just realize you will need to stay an extra year.

CAS does have high standards…but you don’t need a 4.0. Like others said: you need good and strong recommendations, a great essay and a 3.6+. Make sure you clearly communicate why Cornell is the best place for you to continue your education. Don’t bash your current institution…it’s tacky.

If it helps…I transferred to CALS after my freshman year with a 3.9 and mediocre high school stats. I know CAS and CALS are 2 different schools…but just recognize that no matter the college, Cornell transfers that matriculate tend to have high GPAs but definitely not all have 4.0s.

what college did you go to before transferring into cornell, if you dont mind answering ^_^
