Calling all Minorities (URMs)

<p>GPA: 96%/100%...i guess like 3.8 or 3.9</p>

<p>Classes: This year I take AP Calc AB, Honors World History, Ap English lit, AP computer science AB, AP Chem, Media Sociology, Meditation Fundamentals</p>

<p>Rank: 2 or 3 I'm not sure (we didn't get our first report cards yet)...at the end of last school year it was 2nd</p>

<p>ACT: Didn't get October scores back yet. I'm thinking around 30-32
SAT I: (m)700, (cr)660, w(640), 12 essay
SAT II's Math I; 740 Physics;720 (wierd huh)
taking US and math II in December</p>

<p>Ecs: Soccer (12 years) 4 year varsity starter and captain, President of Chess Club, Capoiera (14 years) President of school Club, Music: Part of school orchestra, played guitar for at least 10 years, Founder and President of a peer-to-peer tutoring program at school, VP of Computer Club
Owns a Web/ Graphic design Company (Urbonikz.com) for 3 years, National Achievement Scholarship semifinalist</p>

<p>Recs: they love me at my school (especially since I broke my school's scoring record for soccer)...lol I'm pretty sure all my recs will be good. Getting from my Math, Science, and English teachers. I also went to MITES at MIT so I have really good recs from there too. </p>

<p>Schools (in order): MIT, Cornell, Brown, NYU, RIT, RPI</p>

<p>I just never figured race played such a big deal. I mean, I knew about affirmative action, but I didn't think your race could be what makes or breaks you on the application. It sounds kind of stupid and racist.</p>

<p>In response to what montana said, Hawaii is not an underrepresented region (they have some of the best private schools in the country...punahou anyone?), and being an international students does not count either. In fact, applying as an international is a huge disadvantage.</p>

<p>I've heard that. They look at your economic status a lot more if you're international and if you can pay or not actually becomes a factor.</p>
