<p>Last year, 9% of incoming students were transfers. My daughter has a friend who transferred in as a 2nd-year student, out of a community college. It seemed to work out just fine for him. The first year at Hampshire is similar to that of other colleges, where students are required to take a range of introductory courses from several disciplines. It is probably more complicated for students to transfer in after their 2nd year, because then they will be in the middle of their Division II studies ([Division</a> II](<a href=“http://www.hampshire.edu/academics/2798.htm]Division”>Division II | Hampshire College)).</p>
