This is probably the last message i'm going to leave on this board before i find out my decision tomorrow by calling DHL... best luck to everyone, esp to those who applied to MIT not just because "it's one of those schools." but because they have a passion for it. To all internationals - the wait is almost over... we've done it!!! pat on the back even for rejections because even having the courage to apply to MIT knowing the acceptance rate is around 5% is commendable...

Congratulations on your 1000th post.

Can the international students who find out their acceptances tomorrow post their stats?

....

I'm sooo anxious...

Wow, congrats on becoming a senior member, PW.

Btw, be careful with calling DHL :p When I told my sister about it, she said that will probably get your rejected for finding out your decision sooner than you're meant to (heehehe - remember the Harvard Business school hack??) ;)

i'd rather wait for my mailbox to scream to me...if it ever screamed, that is.

How do you find out from DHL?

call them and ask them if a package is heading your way :D

If (ans==yes)
:)
else
:(

Do they only mail the acceptance letters via DHL?

yes, read the MIT FAQ thread

what's the phone number that you call for DHL?

and do u just give your name to them?

well i hope DHL is nothing like fedex, because fedex woman refused to tell me anything unless i gave them the tracking number. makes sense, but

that doesn't make sense to me... you're asking for your package, addressed to you and sent to your address... where's the problem with that?

I refuse to call!!! Let us leave things to their natural course=) heh good luck everyone~

Well I'm calling tonight form Canada to see if there is something coming for me. Do you think that the DHL computer system will be updated with the packages being sent by MIT aroung 8 hours after they are sent? I hope so.

Best of luck and mithopefullgirl, it was a pleasure to ''meet'' you and hopefully I see you all for real one day. mithopefullgirl is in for sure btw. hehe

Jean

MAn JeanLeloup how Do you know?!!=) ARGH you guys make me so nervous

Call them and ask them what exactly?

We'll mit_hopefullgirl, I am a fortune teller on my spare time...lol

And amrik, you call the 1 800 number of the DHL office of your country, which you can find throught the dhl official website www.dhl.com . Then you tell the operator, my name is amrik I live at so and so adress and my postal code is ....... Is there a package in my name that is in the process of being delivered to me. If yes, then you got in to MIT. If no, you can always try again a bit later, say the next day, to make sure but you can pribably emidiately infer that it was not meant to be. It's that simple. I will be doing this in about 8 hours and I will post my decision here afterwards.

Good luck!

Jean

Hi everyone . I haven't been on this site for quite some time but I decided to check it out because this is usually the most exciting time of the year. I'm an International student (freshman) and when I was in your situation last year somebody suggested calling DHL to check if there was a package coming my way. I went to the nearest office only to find out that nothing had been sent to me. A few days later I received my admission letter to MIT with a totally different mailing service.. So don't lose hope guys especially for international students. I think DHL is expensive for international destinations and they always prefer cheaper alternatives.

I wouldn't rely on this "ask the carrier" method as a surefire indicator of your decision. Just wait to see what the mail will bring. ;)

Yeah read the above two posts guys ^
That's why I'm not calling/visiting.
