I called this morning too. Did you speak to Wendy Schaerer? She is the international admissions counselor. She didn't know about the strike until I told her. She said that somehow get a copy of the transcript and submit everything I can by the November 1st deadline, and other supporting documents can be a couple weeks late.

sigh.. maybe its because very little people in BC applies US to start with so they dont really care much

rite,rite..Wendy Schaerer..I think I called after u....

If there are other Cornell ED applicants from BC, call Wendy Schaerer and tell her about the strike. More the people = more likely that they could give us a deadline extension if the strike lasts longer than 2 more weeks.

Great news for ED applicants of BC:

Teacher strike reaching a possible end?
Oct, 21 2005 - 9:20 AM

VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980) - It's now up to the teachers. The B.C. Teachers Federation says teachers will vote this weekend on mediator Vince Ready's recommendations.
But union resident Jinny Sims says her acceptance is conditional on the government putting in writing that by the end of June, it will address class size and composition through the school act.
Sims has told CKNW's Bill Good she is not satisfied by what she has heard from the premier. What we need now is from them a commitment that there will be firm numbers, Sims said. Because just a table to talk isnt going to cut it.
Labour Minister mike de Jong, also speaking on CKNW, indicated he will put something in writing, but it remains to be seen whether it will be enough to satisfy the union.

just watched the news....cheers...

yay well I guess we can make the deadlines after all

I also live in British Columbia (luckily, though, am only in junior year!)...don't be so sure school is back this Monday. Many of the teachers are saying that, unless they are certain they will get a good deal from the government, they will vote no to go back to school. :-( But..I hope for your guys' sake, they vote yes

**** **** geez 2 weeks isnt good enough for them? taking this fight to the government at student's expense and they call themselves teachers.
hi leave the students out of the political fight thanks.

(as you can tell, a bit angry right now)

I wish someday...on cornell's website it will pop out like this " Cornell's response to BC teacher's strike blah blah " ^^

just another girl in the same boat*

sigh...obviously, universities dun recognize the strike..i think it's gonna end on monday though! ...Still doing RD cause teachers need time :)

If the vote does not pass........ than Jinny Sims (the fat idiot, notice how all the union leaders are fat?) really needs a reality check.

its not Sims that needs the reality check this time, at least not entirely.

" Meanwhile, the Surrey Teacher's Association has come out against the deal, issuing a nine point letter to members on why they shouldn't accept it. The results of the vote will be known by tomorrow evening."

voting results soon, anyone else getting nervous?

Yes! My eyes are glued to the television...even though it's only King of the Hill! BRING ON THE RESULTS!!

my friends said 8 pm.. 15 mins til results sweat

God! Initially it was 6:00 pm. Then 7:30. Now 8:00? The BCTF cruelty does not endddddd!!! Ol' Jinny is probably botching the results right now--that's why it's taking so long :-p
