Calling out SEAS Applicants

Hey guys,

it's kind of hard to distinguish between who's applying engineering and who isn't. What kind of engineering (what major) do you all think you'll go in? Where else are you all looking at for college if columbia doesn't work out (I know there's already a thread for this but I was wondering where specifically engineering people wanted to go)?

as for me, i'm all for biomedical engineering and my 2nd choice for college is Duke. Did anyone do any research during highschool? haha...hopefully it doesn't count as a negative if you don't =</p>

hey i did research. "the effects of ultrasound stimulation of alpha amylase"

Major: environmental engineering

Looking to do EDII to Carnegie Mellon if i don't get into columbia

sup

prolly mech or computer, maybe applied math/physics

YEA CHEMICAL... if i'm not accepted, i won't graduate this year... apply again next year... HAHA

i'm for chemical too...if i don't get into SEAS, i'm applying to barnard (because i really want to go to columbia) and probably cornell's engineering school too.

haha i sucked so much at chemistry...what profession do chemical engineers usually go into after graduation?

I'm applying to SEAS under Biomedical Engineering!!! Do you think a SAT score of 1400 puts me at a disadvantage?? ohhh and the research--i've done research too but its not in engineering, does that matter???

i'm sure it doesn't matter, i think especially at the high school level it's more about finding out what research is all about in general. What'd you do research in? I'm sure the fact that you researched something outside the realm of engineering might help you if anything (it would make you more "diverse" or "well-rounded" in your interests). As for sats, screw em, they're done so stop worrying about it =).

thanks...I did research on Postpartum Depression and its causes other than hormonal changes... Everyone else who did research, what did you do it on?

I forgot to ask this: there were some problems I faced in my project. The major problem was patient privacy issues. Due to this, I was only able to get a very small sample size....Does this matter; should I still send in an abstract? I think I mentioned this in my abstract already as a potential source of error. Any advice is very much appreciated!!!!!!

hey, how long was your abstract?

mine was only like 300 words

my lung capacity abstract was about two pages long

what happens if i'm accepted and i choose not to graduate and go (i'm a junior) and i assume diesel is too?

im applying rd to seas, is the abstract for the application? im confused lol

APAM anyone?

(Applied Physics here)

(applied physics, maybe mechanical)

Applying RD to SEAS
No research
Relatively strong high school science curriculum
Going for biomedical engineering (possibly chemical)

wow, 10 people so far to seas.

Another one here~ lol
I'm looking for Material Science & Engineering...
I don't have 2nd choice...columbia all the way..lol btw..no research arg

out of these 10 or so people, how many are female?
(i'm female)
