What is going on with the constant changing of the courses making some of them unavailable?

Having fun with 300 and above courses? Poor engineers! Wash U is focus on other fields.

Engineers are at their own, after sophomore year they might pray to get the courses they need to graduate. The school used to be very good until the administration forgot they have an engineering school.

The curriculum changed this year so classes that they should be taking no longer exist.

Help me understand what's going on, please.

My D was just accepted to Engineering. I know about the Sansalone resignation (forced?) Please try to be objective, but just what shape is undergraduate Engineering in these days? What are the major issues? Pluses/Minuses?

Thanks, in advance.

New students won't be affected negatively by any of the course changes - It just hit some students during the transition phase. I wouldn't worry about it. Existing students can work with ESS (engineering student services) to help figure out their way around the mess. From what I've seen, ESS is extremely helpful and will do whatever it takes to help students that were affected by class changes in the transition phase.

Ironically, ESS was the office created by Dean Sansalone to be her "ears" so that she didn't have to deal with complaints directly, but it's staffed with some amazing administrators.

I just want to say BME majors are not affected by those problems.

That's good to know. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the posts in this thread.

I'm a ChemE major. Does anyone know who the new dean will be? That is going to be a big part in my decision.

I love WashU and all, but I wouldn't go there if the outlook for the College of Engineering isn't any good.

I am not really sure when the next Dean will come in. I overheard a conversation today that seems to indicate that they are in the final stages of the selection process. The engineering school should improve with the new dean though. What the old one tried to do was to shaft all the other departments and give the money to BME. kind of mean in my opinion

Engineering is again losing positions in the rankings, the school is a mess, poor engineers!

How long do you think it would take for the school to recuperate?

Senior Professor of Biomedical Engineering Salvatore Sutera has been appointed the 10th dean of the Washington University School of Engineering and Applied Science.
Sutera appointed engineering dean - News

Sutera is an excellent choice. He has a ton of experience and should really be able to turn everything around .

i'm a student who is going to attend another school. our school has a dual degree program with WUSTL in the engineering field. i want to know if the engineering school is good here at WUSTL?
