Hi, I asked this in my chance thread but I might as well start its own thread. Anyways, I applied to BU around early December to the school of COM hoping I would go to pursue Film/Television or Journalism major. However, I just did some recent thinking (I know, I should have thought about this ealier) and I am now looking more towards an English major (it would work since you learn about critiques and writing in English, different from Journalism writing, and I want to be a Film critic). Unfortunately, I wrote my supplements for COM, so would it be bad if I called to change my intended major? Like, in my writing, I actually wrote about the school of com so it would definitely be weird if I changed it to English and then they review my application, it might confuse them. Is this a good idea? Thanks.

If I remember correctly, when I visited the campus they said it was extremely easy to switch majors - or even schools. I wouldn’t really worry about that now. Once you get in you can still change it.

I was in the same position (i’m a HS senior). I sent my application in for undecided Engineering and in my supplement I mentioned trying different courses in engineering to find which was perfect for me, and even about different concentrations/minors (something like materials and nanotechnology). But I decided I wanted to do something in arts and sciences so I emailed them asking to change to Arts/Science as a Chemistry major.

It’s up to you. I felt the same way thinking that they will look at the app and see differences in major and supplement, but I dont care haha I’m convincing myself that I’m a strong enough applicant that it wont hurt me at all… I’m hoping.
