Calls

I think the emails were for academics. I got a wait list email and that was for academics and I havn’t heard back from the mt program but I can’t imagine being accepted without academic acceptance. But anyway, to answer your question, I think the emails are just academic.

some calls were made on Sat. (we didn’t know, and weren’t home), but we got our call from Catherine on Sun. morning. We also received e-mail today saying D was accepted into the University (not the same as being accepted into the MT program), and that she had received a scholarship for 4 years, pending keeping her grades up.

I think my D asked, and was told about 16, but I believe that number might include BFA Acting as well as BFA MT, but I could be mistaken. I would guess 8 per program.

Daughter was too excited (plus I had to wake her) so she didn’t think to ask anything else.

Anybody know about the talent money? Do we contact the finaid office to find out?

BTW, you have to be admitted academically into the University in order to be in the program…I think Catherine and the Theatre Dept. communicate with the admissions office on this prior to making calls.

Does anyone know if Elon has completed all of the calls to their accepted students? I have heard a rumor that only part of the list has been called…(the first part of the alphabet) can anyone verify this? I know that usually all of the students are usually called by the 15, but is it possible they are a little behind on calls due to the show Little Women they are putting on right now?

I don’t know if all calls have been made (I’m hoping not since I haven’t gotten one) but it’s definitely not by alphabet if not. My friend had one of the first calls, and her last name starts with an “R”. A guy was called today who’s last name starts with an “A”. I don’t know HOW but it’s not by that.

I have also not gotten a call… and from what I can see from the number of students accepted… it just doesn’t seem as if that many have been notified. Possibly they are still making decisions? Would it be wrong to call and check the status of the calls tomorrow?

No letter today… I was deferred the first half of auditions and on my letter it said we were supposed to hear by March 15…hopefully wait list?

^I’m hoping the same.

Did anyone get letters today?

My friend got her waitlist letter today. She lives up north.

For the school itself or for the musical theatre program?

I believe MT. Waitlist for the school got notifications through an e-mail a couple of days ago.

To clarify something being speculated - I believe they try for 16 in the music theatre program. The acting program may also take that many. It is not 8 and 8.

Ericsmom, Do you know if Elon utilize a wait list?

I also think they were going for 16 in MT.

Yeah, I think they accepted 15 girls and 15 boys to yeild 16 overall? Something like that. I’m still praying for waitlist. I’d give my first born to go here. I heard no MT waitlists have gone out (who knows) and letters should arrive Saturday or Monday. Mehhh.

Sorry about that…that was total speculation on my part. 16 in both is much better.

(I think I was thinking about Otterbein’s numbers)

I doubt Elon accepted 30 kids to yield 16. Their yield has been very high in recent years. My daughter’s class (current junior class) started with 28 because most of those accepted decided to attend. They have since reduced the number of acceptances (and some years have had a waitlist although I’m not sure they have gone to it) to keep the class size more manageable. That is my understanding anyway.

Does anyone know approximately how many audition for MT?

I happen to have had lunch in NYC a few days ago wih a Elon MT faculty person who holding auditions in NYC. They had about 540 audition for Elon this year.
