My son got accepted into both CalPoly SLO and UCLA as a computer science major. Any suggestions or recommendations between the two?
Ucla is much more dog eat dog than Cal poly although both are extremely rigorous. I’ve heard a lot of people say however if you want Togo to get your masters or PhD, go to UCLA. It’s a great research university. If you want a job out of the gate, go to Poly. It should ultimately come down to where your son feels more comfortable and thinks he can succeed. Also if he wants to work in California both will be great but if he wants to move somewhere else, UCLA will have the edge. Cal poly has a more hands on and personal program than the huge lectures you will find at LA. Good luck with your sons decision!
For CS, you can not compare the birthplace of Internet to Cal Poly (eventhough I have a great respect for Cal Poly).
ucla is a better school by far
