HI guys, i wanted your opinion on which university is better. I will be going for a chemistry major. Plus if you know any other good universities in the rank of these universities for a chem. major , plz also post that…thankyou!!

Probably where you spend the least money. As a Chemistry major you’ll need to go to grad school to get a decent job.

Well they are all pretty good, but I’d say UCSD probably has the best reputation, but it’s also more expensive.

Um, NTKS17 where are you getting the more expensive from? UC Davis cost of living is higher than UCSD. Tuition at Davis alone is $11,984 and UCSD is $11,330. Though not by much, the cost to live in Davis exceeds UCSD. Also, UCSD more reputable? Not true, UC Davis and UC Irvine are closely ranked and known as SD. As CSUChopeful also mentioned, it really doesn’t matter where you go in terms of a BS degree all these schools are good schools. If money is really a factor UCD, UCSD, and UCI are about the same, and Cal Poly is about half the price.

i wanna just hop in and comment on how the ucs are divided up

First Tier
-UCB
-UCLA
-UCSD

Second Tier (relatively speaking)
-UCSB
-UCI
-UCD

Third Tier (relatively speaking)
-UCSC
-UCR
-UCM

I remember hearing something about the GPAs from first to third tier like 4.2, 3.9 and 3.6 but I’m not sure what they stand for. It might be average incoming GPA, required GPA, or something made up by our guidance counselor on the spot; I don’t know.

But I do know that even though all the UCs are incredible universities (besides Merced), boundaries are drawn dividing the campuses into three different groups as seen above.
