Calpoly??

Anyone trying calpoly?? They're so new and supposed to be the ''RIT on the west coast". Heard a lot of good stuff about it. I might try physics or something there...:p

Are you talking about Cal Poly San Luis Obispo?

Cal Poly SLO is a great school in Engineering, Architecture and Business. They rather give students hands on experience rather than theory in their classes.

Is it considered a hard school to get into? And is it private or public

Yea its pretty new but still hard to get into. And i've heard they're kinda stingy on money

Cal Poly SLO is a public university in san luis obispo. It was made part of the the CSU in the 1940's i believe. Admission is rather competitive, with averages around 3.8-3.9 and 1250.

ha i dono about 3.8-3.9...i'm at a 3.4-3.5 :p but my SATs were 1370.. I didnt know it was that old btw.. !

From CalPoly's website:

Admitted first-time freshmen students' average high school GPA: 3.73 (Fall 2005)
Admitted first-time freshmen students' average SAT I score: 1204 (Fall 2005)

From the college of Engineering page:
"Freshman applicants compete to be selected only against other freshman applicants applying for the same major through a point-based evaluation of four academic categories and one non-academic category."

At a number of schools, the admissions criteria for engineering is higher than for the humanities and many other majors. I assume Cal Poly would follow this paradigm but I don't know for certain.

CalPoly-SLO has a good reputation in engineering.

Perhaps those are just the students attending? To get into the school the stats are a bit higher. 1280, in fact, is the SAT average for engineering.

PS- I'm sure those are weighted gpa's

Please don't come to Cal Poly for business unless you're going to take school seriously...

Cal Poly is a good school in a great location that is competitive with the mid-tier UCs.

Does any one know about transfering there? I think my stats are high enough...but I don't know about how they are with transfers...
