I was kind of confused on the process of getting to AEM. If I apply to CALS and get accepted, I just choose my major as Finance through AEM or is there another round of admission to get to it?

There is no “Finance” major at Cornell. When you apply to CALS, put AEM’s major code on the appropriate document. That code is 140 and can also be found on the freshman admission section of AEM’s website. If you get to AEM, you can choose to specialize in at least finance as well as another specialization if you wish. A specialization is basically a catalog of courses and specific criterion for those courses.

I understand the lack “Finance” major at Cornell, I should have clarified that sorry. I was just confused about the process of getting into Dyson. Thanks for the help.

You were supposed to apply specifically to AEM within CALS during the application process. If you want to get in AEM after being accepted in CALS, you would need to take certain AEM courses, maintain a certain grade, and you’ll be taken into consideration. Not everyone can make it in AEM even though they’re in CALS already.

I’m not exactly sure when you’re supposed to send in you AEM application though, but I know the soonest (through my understanding) is beginning of sophomore year? I hope someone can confirm or correct this information though.
