Does anyone know if the CALS Dust is accurate. I took 19 credits last semester, which included a CA-AS course, and SBA - AS course. Neither of those were counted toward my distribution. It still shows:

Humanities & Social Science
4 courses of at least 3 credits in 3 different categories
Course Credits
Total 0

It says
* Cultural Analysis (CA)
* Historical Analysis (HA)
* Knowledge, Cognition, and Moral Reasoning (KCM)
* Literature and the Arts (LA)
* Social and Behavioral Analysis (SBA)
* Foreign Language (FL)

Since it includes FL im assuming those are from any college... So they are supposed to count even if its listed as AS right? Cause all of those went onto my endowed credits instead so now i got a huge amt of credits for endowed. Now I'm worried about going over the 55 limit and getting charged. Does anyone know how much it is per credit past 55? Thanks

Are you talking about credits from the Fall 2008 semester? I’m in A+S and usually it takes awhile (well into the next semester) for the classes I’ve taken to appear on DUST.

well they definitely appeared, they were put into CALS credit and endowed credit but none into distributions… id assume if those 2 were updated distributions should be too

I was concerned about the credit thing since my major required a lot of classes from CAS. Apparently…if you go over (which, btw, does not happen that often) you can petition the registrar to not charge you for a few extra credits and the charges are often waived (this info comes from a friend of fried who has this problem).

Last I knew…you are charged additional $790 per credit…but I’m sure this charge has gone up (considering that summer and winter classes are $970 per credit).

wow -_- thats like 4000$ extra per class! =(, do you guys know if study abroad classes count toward endowed if they are in an area different than what CALS offer?

I dont know how DUST works but according to that i have 16 Endowed so far and im sophomore. They counted Orgo and physics to the endowed but not general chem… oO If gen chem counts id have 24. Next semester I’ll probably get another +15 or so Endowed credits added on lol…

hmmmm…well…just be careful and if classes are cross-listed with an endowed and contract college…make sure you take the class under the contract heading.

I just checked my CALS DUST thing and I have the same condition: the credits showed up as CALS credits or endowed credits, but not in other distribution areas (like as fulfilling my
writing requirement or intro bio requirement).

also, I think even if you’re fulfilling a CALS requirement it still counts, it will still be counted as an endowed credit. (this was what I assumed, but I could be wrong.)

also, if you do the CALS exchange all your courses there are CALS credit.

It takes a little while for the courses to be marked in your distribution category b/c the registrars have to physically enter the requirements met for every student…and there’s a lot of you!

And yes…even if you use an endowed college class to fill a CALS requirement…it will still count against your 55 endowed credit limit.
