CALS or CAS

I want to study biology and I don't know whether I should choose CALS or CAS. Is there any difference between CALS and CAS if I want to study biology? Which one is easier to get into? I'm not sure if this is important, but I want to study in music also (not as a major though) Also I am international student living in the U.S. and out of state.

CAS has more room for flexibility to study music.

not really true if you don't intend to double major. CALS is more science oriented. CAS is a liberal arts college within cornell: the distribution will have you take courses in math science history etc in addition to your major.

Which school is easier to get in. CALS or CAS

I think CALS is but I'm not positive. There should be another post with the acceptance rates for the different programs.

I'm not really sure how admissions to CALS works for international students.

On one hand, there are a ton of people from instate applying for the reduced tuition. . .so they might see your an international student and try to diversify their primarily instate student population.

However, I'm not sure on this, but I think some of the state schools favor NYS students (like admit a certain large percentage from NY), because they are affiliated with NYS. . .but I'm not sure on this.

I'd say just apply to CAS, seeing it's not any more expensive for you. And if you really are intereted in music you could decide to double major later on.

you'll have a higher chance of getting into cornell if you apply cals
