CALS or CAS?

Hi,

I want to study microbiology and biochemistry, especially on bacteria and their influence on our environment... but I couldn't decide whether I fit more with CALS or CAS.
I could use the primary/alternate choice option but the thing is the essay for my alternate choice is really horrible and I don't think I can write another decent one before the deadline. So I want to choose one out of the two and I was hoping I could get some advices from you guys!!
I'm leaning towards CALS at the moment but I don't know whether I am doing the right thing.

THXTHXTHX

I agree with CALS.

CALS has the resources necessary for a proper treatment of microbio and biochem.

Thanks! That’s really reassuring!
But I still don’t completely understand the difference in biology courses/programs offered in the two colleges… how are they different?

The Biological Sciences program which offers the Biology major in both CAS and CALS is the same department.

Your classes and requirements for your major are exactly the same.
However, the other classes that are required by the college are different. I.e. in CAS you have a foreign language requirement and I believe in CALS you have several other science/math requirements.

there’s no difference really in the Biological Sciences major in either college, although Chendrix is right about the different other requirements.
also, if you’re really hoping to do a certain minor, you’d likely find it in CAS rather than CALS, so think ahead to factors like that.

Yeah, if you are absolutely positive about studying that, I would go for CALS, as it is a more “certain” college.
