CALS Transfer Option: reality, chances, and student life?

Hello!

When I applied regular decision this year to Cornell (under Applied Economics and Management), they offered me their transfer option. What I would like to know is...

Overall, what are the chances of being accepted under this transfer option? How many people are offered this option, and how many are accepted? (If such stats are available).

What is the culture on campus like for transfer students? Are they ostracized or anything like that? I understand that they room together in residences that also house upperclassmen, but in general do they get along with those who started at Cornell their freshman year?

Is it possible for a transfer student to change majors?

Thank you for anything you have to share!

I got the CALS transfer option as well this year. You’re basically in if you maintain your GPA and take the classes that they tell you to take. Congrats!

I’d also like to know if it would be possible to change majors as a transfer as well. From what I’ve read, you’re okay as long as you transferred in before second semester of soph year, but I’m not so sure.

We are all on same boat. I created a thread to discuss 2014 Fall transfers. See below

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/1490289-fall-2014-cornell-garanteed-conditional-transfers.html

As long as I understood, completing the courses and maintaining the GPA as they suggested will garanttee your spot at Corenell. I am doubt about the transfering the major, while transfering to Cornell. But I think it is possible after you are in Cornell and try for transfer.

I originally applied Early Decision to CALS under Applied Economics and Management, was deferred, and then given the transfer option. I’m going to try to take it. Hope to see you guys in Ithaca in 2014! :)
