6/21

Don't know what time I'm arriving or leaving, coming from San Francisco.

7/5

And I'm coming from Fremont..

July 12th Calso

I posted this in the Berk forum, but if you are going to be there for CalSO or want to hang out during the year based on my description, feel free to PM me.

-I'm a Filipino male incoming transfer student from San Jose
-I'm down to hit up the parties, preferably often
-I'm cool with drinking/smoking, etc., but won't get as drunk or high as you
-I have been heavily influenced by African American culture so if you're pure rocker or punk fan, you probably won't like me
-I'm a big b-ball and football fan, a "watches the draft" type of fan
-I use a lot of slang
-Even though I listen to a lot of hip hop, I've been into R&B stuff as of late, John Legend, Ne-Yo, Mario, that mellow ish
-I hate Hyphy
-I will talk ish about people on occasion if they anger me, so if you're on that PC "Everyone's beautiful" tip, you probably won't like me

and finally

-I am religious, so if you're not, we just won't talk about it
-and I have been taught to have manners, so if you're rude, you probably won't like me, and there's a great chance I won't like you

I am not planning to come to Calso. Is that a problem? Do they have any other orientation besides Calso? Is Calso a requirement? I'm kinda confused. Does anyone know when transfer students get to register for classes?

Its not a req, but they highly recommend it even though people on the boards have been saying its not that worth it. IMO you get some questions answered and some little things taken care of, along wiht a quick tour of the school again among knowledgable people.

I am june 7th, see you at 730 in the morning heavy metal?

Awwww, no one on July 5th?

I'm on 7/5 too...driving in from Davis...I'm excited about signing up for classes and getting my id...=)

heavymetal...could you please let us know how CALSO went since you have the early date. When I go I'm going to ask when & how we get our free football season tickets.

luvtoolearn I am going to ask about that also. i go this thursday, thanks for reminding me- i will post whatever i can extract from them.

Thanks, I really appreciate it...everyone who is going tomorrow should post their experiences so that way we get an idea on what to expect

To those who've attended the 6/7 CalSO: do you have anything important to share?

During when did you receive your advisor codes?

Thanks in advance.

Ok so here is my low down on the Cal SO.

They feed you pretty well, and you will need the energy because there is a lot to do.

The meetings and speeches were pretty informative, so to those people that said it was a complete waste I will disagree. I think it can be improved but it is worth spending the time on the campus.

The main thing people need to do is prepare their schedules (at least what they hope to get into) prior to coming. The computer time in which you actually sign up for classes is about 30 minutes and takes place after 430PM which is the final address. Come with your courses and backup courses and course numbers prepared, it will make things run smoothly.

The Cal student store closes early, you have about two hours in the middle of the afternoon to do things called "options" which is your choice of some activity. (Such as getting your ID, which I would do quickly because the line builds up fast). You can go to financial aid and other places etc.

For the most part I think the transfer orientation is hard to do because of what my calso counselor said. We are not all 19-20 year old transfers, so they can't treat us like the freshman with cheers and activities. (I was sorta mad because I am 19, and I was thinking this would be more like that). So its mellow, which is nice I guess.

And my number 1 most important thing I had to do/find out: We do get Football Season Tickets because Cal beat Stanford last year (YAY!, and don't forget to hiss and anything red from now on) which will be available July 23rd according to the ticket office people. You have to go onto calbears website and go to student tickets, where you can sign in after that date (if you are a new student trying to get your free tix).

If you have any other questions, PM me.

Another fact about the july 23rd date:

Only the first 1500 freshman/transfer people to sign up get free football tix. The free football tix include 4 home games. The other two home games (USC, tennesse) you have to pay $30 total for both.

You sign up at calbears.com at 830 on july 23rd.

June 28th.

Ahh someone emailed me from Cal and made me change my date for calso. I'm now July 12..
