OK, so here’s the problem. I’m taking the AP tests for English, Gov, and Calc BC this May. I’m going to CalSo the last week of June. As far as I know, the AP scores don’t come out until July. Unfortunately, I was hoping to get into Math 54 (Linear Algebra), which will require that I have Calc II background (I might do Math 53, but Math 54 was recommended, good teacher supposedly).

Anywho, how will I deal with this come CalSo? Should I just hope that the Math class doesn’t close before my second pass, or will they let me sign up anyway? I’m very good @ math, if I get less than a 4 on the BC exam I’ll be quite surprised.

More stuff… according to Berkeley one can take an upper division political science course (there’s a certain set that are allowable, but upper division none the less) if one scores high enough on the AP. First, is it reasonable at all to expect to get in (1st or 2nd pass) and is it reasonable to attempt the class (will it be too demanding for my freshman year)?

Finally, does anybody know how the testing works for foreign language? I got a 3 on the German AP exam (bad day… ughh) but I took another year after that (Independent study of German literature). Can I test past the first two years entirely? That was suggested @ Irvine and it seemed implied when I talked to Dr. Seeba.

OK, so if anybody can answer those specifics that’s awesome. If not, I have a more general question that kind of encompasses them all. Should I try any weird manuevering like this @ CalSO, or first semester in general? I’m trying to decide between different areas I enjoy, and I want to see if I can’t choose my major(s) before the end of freshman year. Any insight?

Ummm… since this was rather specific compared to most of the other threads on this forum, I think it’d be good if this thread could be used for any other CalSo Questions (hence the general thread title) as well.
