CalSO Room Question?

Hey everybody! :)

*I just had a question about room and board at UCBberkeley for CalSo? Do, I have to sleep in the dorms for the orientation because honestly I kind of live pretty near Cal,so I was wondering whether I have to stay the night or I could just leave after registering for classes? Please don't mind! Thanks! :)

I’m not sure since mine was four years ago, but I think there was an option/fee for room and board. But it would be a pretty good opportunity for you to bond with other Cal students, and I know people who have met their friends during CalSO.

EDIT: whoops sorry got confused with the early-arrival, but for the actual night, you might not be able to waive it since you still have CalSo the following half-day, and they do that in order for you to bond with your fellow peers. However, if you really want to see if you can take out the fee for board (though I think its unlikely), call

@QuirkyGirl … Sorry, you don’t get a reduction. I found in the FAQs where it says:

If I don’t intend to stay in the residence halls during the CalSO program, is there a reduced program fee?

All first-year students will receive housing accommodations during CalSO. There is no fee reduction for first-year students who do not stay in the residence halls as it is our expectation that all first-year students stay overnight on campus in order to continue to learn more about the University and make new friends.
