What are the benefits of attending calSO? If we do not attend calSO, are we able to register the same time with the students who did attend calSO by receiving our Advisor Code and tele-BEARS appointment time?

Thank you very much.

From the CalSO website:
Transfer student programs

CalSO Transfer Programs are one day long. They begin with check-in from 7:20am to 8:15am and end at 7pm; the fee is $175 per person. The fee will be billed to your CARS account in September. Information includes:

* Academic advising and assistance

…

…and you can get your ID card and make friends!

Course enrollment (up to 10 units) through Tele-BEARS

this is the most important for me.

I think that either you go to calso and register there with an adviser, or you have to wait for a while to register online AFTER all of the calso appointments have happened.

Can someone confirm what absurdmike said?

External- You need to attend CalSo in order to receive your ‘class code’ which allows you to register for classes in the Fall. If you do not attend CalSo you will need to explain the reasons why THOROUGHLY and you will be forced to register for classes late.
The reason I know this is my bf was accepted last year, he left from CalSo early and didn’t receive his ‘adviser code’ and had to go to the school in the beginning of the semester and explain why he left CalSo…THEN they gave him his code.

So there so no way to sign up for classes unless you go to CalSo or after the orientations have ended? I ask this because my CalSo appointment is the last one and I’m worried that I won’t be able to enroll in some of my preferred courses…is there another way around it?
