Caltech and Physics

My S has not been able to take Physics so far. He just took Phycs (AP - part 1) from Community College and is looking to take Phycs AP - part 2 (Elect and magnetism) from CTY or EPGY.

Question is -

Are CTY and EPGY considered to meet CalTech Physics requirement or should he take them from Community College? He cannot take them in school because his school does not allow more than 1 science class per year and he is taking Chem AP.

Is he eligible to apply early to Caltech? I think the answer is no since Caltech site says - •Can demonstrate strong academic preparation and achievement, without the benefit of senior-year first semester grades

Thanks

I don’t enough about those programs to give you an answer, but if the content is at least AP level (btw, which level of AP? B or C? I only took AP physics B and was admitted, so don’t sweat that point), I don’t see why it wouldn’t “count”. To prove his proficiency in physics, your son could take the AP exam.

I think that’s up for you guys to determine.
