Caltech and Stanford Picture Galley

The following is a picture gallery showing my visits to Caltech and Stanford and random things in between. Feel free to ask me questions. Directly below is the link to the pictures and below the link is a summary of them.

<a href="http://mygwl.com/%7Elizzardfire/cal/cal.html%5B/url%5D">http://mygwl.com/~lizzardfire/cal/cal.html</a></p>

The first few pics are of Caltech’s campus. The bowl of noodles is an example of the incredible food offered at Caltech… noodles with fresh meat and vegetables for an inexpensive price (best university food ever!). Even my mom was shocked at the quality of food. Next we have a few more pictures of Caltech and a pic of me (in black) and Ben Golub (the smaller guy :P). After that is a picture of Pasadena and a bunch of pictures of a guy getting his head shaved outside of the cafeteria. I did not take any more pictures of dinner than that guy getting his head shaved, but I ate in Blacker House for dinner, drank green (a mix of blue powerade and orange juices) and threw rolls at everyone (except the waiters!!!) Ben invited me to that and I am very grateful for the experience.

Next, we come upon random pictures of the road trip between LA and San Francisco, and a picture of my mom.

Finally, we are at Stanford, as you can see from the campus shot. I did not take as many pictures of the campus as I should have, but it is very beautiful. Note the fountain—it is nicknamed (or called, I am not sure) the claw, but it is supposed to represent the intellect of a Stanford student rising out of a fire or something. I don’t think our guide was completely sure about it, heh.

Most of the remaining pictures are of a Mech E 210 final—they had to design robots that would in some way use a foam ball to hit targets that beamed infrared signals at them. I got invited by an engineering student I met on campus, and it was awesome…great fun.

The last picture is Stanford’s bookstore. It is HUGE! Four stories, all filled with books and materials. I purchased the latest James Patterson there for my flight :P

Well, this is it—thanks for viewing the gallery and hopefully it gave you a taste of what these two fine universities are like.

Quick note: the difference in quality between the food offered at lunch and dinner is like night and day. If you can, try to visit for prefrosh weekend so you can get a taste of what's offered at night. Because of the way we prefer our meals served (we have waited dinners served family style), the quality is much lower.

He had dinner at Blacker, so I suspect he sampled the CDS evening offerings. :-P

Yea the food at dinner was not as good as the food at lunch but it was definitely edible... maybe I'm just "un-spoiled" because my mom is not a very good cook. Caltech dinner > UCF dinner > FSU dinner
