I just submitted everything. Whew!

Deadline's in a few days, so let's get talking!

I just submitted everything. Whew!

I’ve applied to Caltech as well from Singapore :D

I really hope I can make it, even though it’s really difficult for international students :P

Southern California here! This is actually my first post on College Confidential, but Caltech has been my top choice for such a long time…

I’m worried that my SAT scores aren’t high enough for Caltech’s standard, though. Good luck to everyone who applied! :D

International student here! Yeah fingers crossed since I also need financial aid…great, NO PRESSURE :P

Another international student here! Worrying about scores and lack of research, anyone else?
Good luck guys, hope to catch you guys in a couple months

On their application status page, is it supposed to list all materials (recs, transcript, etc) on the “We have received the following documents from you:” ??

How does that work//

Those are the additional forms, HarveyMuddLove, as in research paper, medical school essay and recommendations etc. I don’t think recs, transcripts and all are displayed in that section.

^ so would the research mentor recommendation show up there?

anyone that has had a mentor send in a letter via email know if it does? mine only lists the paper i sent

lolparanoid

Caltech is all I want in a college. If (and when) I don’t get in, I’m probably going to apply transfer after a year or two.

My biggest worry is my lack of math/science awards. I’m on science olympiad, and we’ve made it to states, but I’ve never won any medals (was hospitalized for regionals so I missed my best medal chance two years ago). My school is really bad at prepping kids for college, so I never knew about the AMC or any of the other math contests until last october.

God I love this school.

so…is there somewhere on application status for Caltech to see if materials (recs, etc) have been processed, or is emailing/calling the option to check?

They will send you an email with an ID to log in to a mini-account that has a list of application materials received

My portal doesn’t say that they have and/or are missing application materials. Since this didn’t even included my supplement (which the common app tells me they have), I just assumed they wouldn’t inform me of whether or not they had my materials. Anyone else have that happen?

^ yea my portal only lists research paper received, so I was wondering if other stuff like mentor rec should show up…

^ I don’t think so. I just have my research paper and that’s it there…by the way, to answer your question, I would say upload it, and it will show up. Do it directly from the application tracker page you have. Cheers!

So what’s life like right now for everyone else that’s applying here?

My S.'s research mentor sent his rec letter via email. It was received without a problem by the admissions, but it does not show up on the portal. My S. is accepted in EA for 2017.

My son applied RD 2017. Does anyone know when acceptances are sent and how - phone, letter, email?

@zingerdad

Official answer is “mid March”

Last year email notifications went out on 3/10.

Does anyone know when the decisions are coming out.

Yes, I remember last year they came out on Saturday afternoon, 3/10, so could be this weekend. We weren’t expecting it. They were trying to beat the MIT Pi Day decisions.
