Are Caltech students given an @caltech.edu (or something like that) e-mail address upon matriculation? I know at Harvard they give out @fas.harvard.edu addresses pretty quickly, but I'm not sure when Caltech does it. Do most students use those addresses? Thanks!

Caltech gives it out once your on campus in September. Pretty late :P

Most people use those addresses. I have mine forwarded to my gmail.

that is late!!! no facebook till september... sigh

There's high school facebook now! And they'll probably have a feature soon (by September) to export all your friends to your new college facebook.

Unless, of course, you want to create two facebooks and befriend yourself. PM me if you want a high school facebook invite. :)

(I think three facebooks will be unmanageable for me. I'm going to just shut down my high school facebook and move my UCLA facebook to Princeton.)

oohh yay! thanks so much! haha, im so excited :)

You get an @caltech.edu e-mail, but it's also an @its.caltech.edu e-mail. Both work, but most people find @caltech.edu to be more convenient.

The fact that you get an @its.caltech.edu address in addition to the @caltech.edu one is GREAT for creating an extra, phony facebook account...

well you can also get UGCS accounts where you can set up unlimited email lists with arbitrary @ugcs.caltech.edu addresses

spoon, you're a good man.

go to sleep. ;-)

Sleep is for the weak. A true Soviet will not let that deter him from his civic duties...
