O NO I AM FEELING NERVOUS…
I wonder how many applicants applied to Caltech in RD round? I heard the school got its record applicants this year…5000+ students compete for only 600 seats! o my god…
My rational sense keeps saying to me that it’s impossible for me to get in, yet the irrational heart whispers in my head,“who knows? perhaps you’ve got a chance!” sigh

perhaps you should also start a thread “be prepared for rejections” as students do in MIT forum?

ahhh! I know I’ll be rejected, but until I see the “unfortunately…” I can’t crush all hope! I reread my essays today, and found a punctuation typo… ugh

it is even possible for someone with almost notable math/science awards to get in (even if they have all perfect AP and SAT subject test scores)?

I got in with a grand total of 0 math/science awards, so yes.

where can we check our admission status tomorrow? do they send us emails?

Ya… Caltech has sent me a couple of emails before, but they seem to be silent for this month, and I’m now freaking…

cjk, you should receive an email tomorrow with a link to your decision.

Chill, kenhungkk. That’s how it usually goes. :)

Omggg One Day! That’s soo excitinggg!

But @dawn: 600?! How come the graduating classes only have ~200 students then? :O

they take more than 200 but a lot of them go to other schools… since peole who get into caltech often get into other good schools. i think?

Haha alright.

@XoKiwiKisses: last year Caltech’s yield is around 35% or something. It’s impossible for them to have 100% yield, eve Harvard cannot achieve that.

and I wonder, among all applicants here, how many have IMO or iPHO (or any similar competitions) medals?? I haven’t got any omg I hate myself. :(

i dont xD i hate myself too i guess?

I don’t, but I’m not legally eligible… I hope they consider that lol

Woaaah, 35 is pretty low. I understand that no one gets a 100, but still.

35? :S

35 is too low for a school so nice like Caltech. Maybe I can help push it up this year? :P

Concerning awards: Nothing starting with I but 3xUSAMO, 1xUSChO, 1xUSPhO (Physics not Philosophy I always get the acronyms for those two confused…)

One thing started with I: IMO… And going to make IMO and IPhO this year.

you guys are soo clever!
