Since my ACT is much better than both of the SATs I took, I elected to only send my ACT and 2 subject tests instead. If Caltech “strongly encourages” that I send all scores and I only sent some of them, will I be at any sort of disadvantage (probably not but just want to make sure).
Yes.
This is a school that has an honor code.
If you can’t be truthful and honest in your application, what does that say about the rest of you?
I think it is ok not to submit. Strongly encourage does not mean require. Sometimes people study hard for one test and take the other one just to see how it goes. The result may not represent the student’s best effort.
I know a kid who got in EA this year and just sent in his best ACT scrore. As the poster above noted, strongly encourages does not mean require.
??? Caltech allows students to use score choice… Followed all the rules, just wondering if I should send in the rest of my scores since they encourage it.
IF one of the subject tests you sent was for the Math II test and your score was above 780, then I see no reason to send more test scores.
The Math 2 subject test is one they pay particular attention to.
MOST accepted students get perfect math test scores.
@menloparkmom I have 800s in my math and science subject tests and sent them, but withheld my 2 SAT scores in favor of my much higher ACT. Is this okay?
And actually, I don’t mind sending them but its just that I’ll have to spend another 12 bucks on a score report.
